RAF Wyton Easter Street Party
On the 5 Apr 18, the Community Support Team showcased another amazing Easter Street Party for the on Wyton on the Hill Community.
Luckily the weather was fine and we all escaped the rain that had ruined the Easter Holidays. The Community Street was filled with happy smiling children, who enjoyed the fun fair rides, bouncy castles and Ark Farm. Half way through the afternoon there were two Easter Eggs Hunts, they always prove popular with the children and maybe a few of the parents too.
Following last year’s event community support received a request from the older children for something more suited to their age group and so a bungee run was set up. This went down a storm and at the end of the day the Army Cadets held a ‘Bungee Off’ to see who could stay on.
The Children’s Centre from Godmanchester attended giving parents with toddlers the option to play with their little ones. This also gave the opportunity to find out more about the classes and sessions the Child and Family Centre’ provide on the Street. For anyone requiring more information, please speak to the Community Support Team SSAFA in Service Committee Group attended with a stall and raised funds and awareness of what they provide at RAF Wyton. They also had Sgt Beddows there in a full suit of armour, at the time he was preparing to run the London Marathon in aid of SSAFA.
The Community Support Team would like to thank the Army Cadets for their continued support. Sgt Marsden from 42 Engr Regt (Geo) is the liaison with the Army Cadets and always supplies the events with fun, enthusiastic and hardworking Cadets. They would also like to thank, Fg Off Mike Reeve, Karen Emerson, Julia Rawson for their help on the day. Not forgetting to note the Sterling work carried out by Youth club staff and members in supplying hot/cold drinks and food.
